"We practice 14th and 15th-century chivalric arts, both in and out of armor (arnis et sin arnis), through a structured curriculum based on interpretations by Raleigh Armizare head maestro, Kurt Holtfreter. Our primary source of study is Fiore dei Liberi’s manuscript, Fior di Battaglia (MS Ludwig ⅩⅤ 13, commonly referred to as the Getty). Our training covers a wide range of weapon systems and skills, including grappling, dagger, sword, lance/spear, and poleaxe. We focus specifically on the historical practices of the chivalric combatant and are not affiliated with HEMA Ratings or Scorecard.
We aim to empower students and instructors with confidence, functional fitness, and resilience. We provide a welcoming environment and an evolving curriculum focused on the practical application of Fiore’s Armizare, with a strong emphasis on consent, safety, and historical context. Ultimately, we seek to inspire personal growth both in training and in life through the four chivalric virtues of Armizare: avisamento (prudence), presteza (celerity), forteza (fortitude), and ardimento (audacity)."
